What is the future for elite infantry units like the Paras and Marines over the next decade?

I am interested in finding out informed opinions on what the future holds for elite infantry units such as the Paras and Marines over the next decade, especially considering that we hope to be out of Afganistan and Iraq by 2014/15 and with the ending of the Cold War? Do they have much of a future? What missions can you see over the next 10 years?

What is a VPN?

VPN is (Virtual Private Network) were first used by companies to enable their employees to securely access internal systems such as email remotely (e.g. from home or while on business trips). Today they are increasingly being used for personal use by individuals to protect their privacy while online in public places (e.g. when using the wi-fi connection in a cafe) or in a country where the internet is censored / blocked (e.g. China, Saudi Arabia…).
